Everything about She & Him is just so precious. Sometimes I mean this pejoratively, but usually my cynicism is washed away by their whimsy, top-notch songwriting abilities, and love for all things past. So it would seem fitting that the music video for “Thieves”, the opening number off their latest effort Volume Two, digs so deep into the past it makes Errol Flynn’s Robin Hood look like Tron.
The video (via Pitchfork) was directed by Norwood Cheek and features both adult and child versions of M. Ward and Zooey Deschanel in what appears to be a 4-dimensional game of hide and seek gone terribly awry and surrealistic. Think Un Chein Andalou written and directed by an 8-year-old about love. I, indeed, am moved. Check it out below.
In other She & Him news, the duo & friends just played the first ever Nateva Music & Camping Festival in Oxford, ME. CoS was there and wrote all about She & Him, Flaming Lips, moe., Passion Pit, et al. Click over here and give it a look-see.
