Wavves hit coast-to-coast

When Wavves unveiled the initial round of tour dates in support of their upcoming release King of the Beach, all of us east of the Mississippi River were anticipating additional shows that didn’t require a caffeine aided road-trip to attend. Singer Nathan Williams has now delivered, extending the band’s current tour far beyond his sultry southern Californina.

After returning to the states from Norway July 31st, Williams — along with former Jay Reatard bandmates Stephen Pope (bass) and Billy Hayes (drummer) — will deliver their brand of trippy, lo-fi punk rock to New York’s Bowery Ballroom August 1st. From New York, the trio will make a Friday appearance at Lollapalooza, and then play Chi-town’s much more intimate Empty Bottle on Saturday. From Chicago, Wavves will hit California to conclude their previously announced summer tour.

Beginning September 10th, the newly added dates bring Wavves to both the Midwest and East Coast. While the sunny beaches of Florida are still absent any Wavves’ dates, the trio will be performing 16 shows in only 20 days with stops in St. Louis, Buffalo, Baltimore, Charlotte, and Atlanta among others.

The tour concludes October 10th with an epic performance at NY’s Madison Square Garden, where Wavves will be accompanied by Phoenix and The Dirty Projectors.  A complete list of dates follows. Tickets for some of the dates are available via Ticketmaster.com.

And if you still need to pick up your copy of  King of the Beach, the CD and LP are due August 3 via Fat Possum. Can’t wait? Digital copies are available via Amazon. And for you auditory pleasure, check out “Post Acid” below.
