Check Out: Brandon Flowers says “Swallow It”

Brandon Flowers‘ impending solo album and tour would seem to be a win for both fans and detractors of the polarizing frontman. While enemies may rejoice that his band The Killers would seem to have been handed an indefinite placement on the backburner, the group’s many devoted fans will enjoy rare opportunities to see the singer at intimate venues, i.e. not festivals and arenas.

The latter group should also rejoice the fact that Flowers album, Flamingo, is shaping up to be a significant departure from the sound The Killers are known for. Check out “Swallow It” (ewww), a tune that strangely evokes Julian Casablancas for me and unfortunately, at under three minutes, it doesn’t have the time to develop as maybe it should. But Flowers, it seems, is doing the responsible thing by releasing experiments under his own name and not putting his band under the microscope and risking loss of momentum. They reached a new peak as a Coachella headliner with their last album, so a major change in direction for The Killers would be ill-advised.

Enjoy the new tune below (via Pretty Much Amazing) and if that is not enough for you, L.A. radio station KROQ has mini-clips of FIVE up-coming Flowers jams. And don’t worry, we’ll let you know when the real tour starts.
