Despite Bono suffering a tour-ending back injury in May, U2 have bounced back pretty quickly. On top of the rescheduled North American tour dates, getting their Broadway show back on schedule, and working with Dave Hollister (seriously, Google him already), according to the SlicingUpEyeballs.com, the band recently debuted a new song during the August 1st rehearsals at Italy’s Stadio Olimpico di Torino, a track which you can enjoy below. Kind of. More or less.
The video’s actually a fan video from outside the stadium’s gates, so we can’t glean too much from it. What we do know about the nameless song is that it’s heavy on the guitar and it makes mention of “the flowering rose of Glastonbury”, undoubtedly a nod to the aforementioned festival gig the band canceled in June. As for songs they played we actually know, according to @U2, the band dusted off “Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me” from the Batmen Forever soundtrack (which hasn’t been played since March 1998) and jammed through a rendition of Passengers’ “Miss Sarajevo”. Whether or not any of those tracks make it to the tour is still unclear.
