Mixtapes are so much fun sometimes that you wonder why some rappers bother making proper albums. On an album, it’s hard to get away with incorporating themes from Seinfeld or inane album art. The unofficial officialness of the mixtape is great for music, and Billy Corgan should try it.
Canadian rapper k-os has said he’s done making albums, but he’s nowhere close to being done making music. His latest release, as reported by Some Kind of Awesome, is The Anchorman Mixtape, and yes, it takes its name from Will Ferrell’s breakthrough 2004 film.
The mixtape, which Some Kind of Awesome said halted k-os’ site, features new tracks interspersed with clips from the movie, and some of those tracks feature some noteworthy collabs. Appearing on this mixtape are former Death from Above 1979 frontman Sebastien “Sir Bastard” Grainger, Saukrates, Phantogram, and fellow Canadian Drake (a.k.a. Ever, Greatest), who toured with k-os a few months ago.
