Despite the band’s moniker, Fake Problems have had some real issues over the past four years. They’ve had their equipment stolen in Chicago, their van caught on fire in Ontario, a wild turkey flew through their windshield in Tennessee, and they’ve even been arrested for trespassing in their own home state. While they’re still a bit cursed (their drummer, Sean Stevenson, lost his wallet at Warped Tour), lady luck seems to be on their side nowadays (Andrew W.K. left a note on the returned wallet).
Now, with a new album and tour on the horizon, the folk-punkers out of Naples, FL, are looking to take some of that good fortune with them on the road. Their third LP, Real Ghosts Caught on Tape, drops on September 21st (via SideOneDummy), and the Ted Hutt-produced album is set to expound on the manic, yet mindful sound that the band created on their sophomore release, It’s Great To Be Alive. Lead single “Soulless” has the same hyper-charged energy as Alive track “The Heaven & Hell Coalition”, but it trades some of the classic punk rhythms for jangly guitars and sun-kissed harmonies.
