Since launching in 2004, and their subsequent purchase by Matador Records in late 2009, New York based True Panther Sounds (TPS) have steadily assembled a robust indie roster. Partially consisting of San Francisco’s Girls and Morning Benders, Barcelona’s Delorean, the Magic Kids from Memphis, and Teengirl Fantasy of Ohio, founder Dean Bein continually demonstrates his ability to discover artists outside the city’s five boroughs. And with the debut release by LA’s one-woman orchestra of Cameron Mesirow, better known by the moniker Glasser, TPS has become an indie label worth tracking.
Ring, Glassers’ first release since her debut EP Apply, is set to be out September 25th. Despite being made on Garage Band in airplanes and shoe stores, Apply earned the attention of some seriously talented producers — Ariel Rechshaid (We Are Scientists) and Van Rivers and the Subliminal Kid (Fever Ray, Blonde Redhead). With the assistance of the trio, Mesirow re-imagined her earlier musical arrangements, incorporating organic instrumentation and a wide array of percussion to bolster her once-sparse recordings for the full-length release.
Preorders for both the CD and LP are currently being taken here. According to TPS, the first 500 fans to order the CD receive a limited edition fold-out gift box designed by Tauba Auerbach, and the first 500 preorders for the LP receive one of the numbered clear-vinyl copies. After preordering the album, the track Home is immediately available for download. Hear a little snippet of the track, and view the complete tracklist, below.
Ring is due out September 25th via True Panther Sounds. In support of the release, Glasser will be hitting the road for a few dates with Gayngs in late September/early October.
