Alright lets be honest folks Iggy Pop isnt what youd call a t-shirt man. Hell, hes not even a clothes man! In fact, the 63-year-old rock star has spent the majority of his career parading around half naked in public just because he felt like it. And with that in mind, its both hilarious and ironic that the punk icon has just announced that hes officially going into the t-shirt business. No, seriously.
Pop recently made and appearance at Barneys Co-Op in New York to promote the new line dubbed Archive 1887. He later admitted Theres tons of irony, especially since I made the cover of The Onion with a shopping cart, saying that Im the only one allowed to enter supermarkets shirtless. Thankfully, however, shirts arent all thats on Pops mind these days as hes also prepping the reissue of his post-Stooges solo album Kill City, which is set to his stores on October 19th, reports Rolling Stone.
If that weren’t enough, The Stooges frontman is also said to be considering another Stooges album. Pop and guitarist James Williamson are currently in demo mode as we speak and once the band wraps up their tour on September 3rd, Pop plans to focus full-force on this one.
“I’m keen to respect the integrity of the group and what it stands for so I don’t want to do a new album lightly,” he told Rolling Stone. “Whatever songs we do, I want them to be better.”
Details currently stop there, but with a concert DVD also in the works, it’s probably fair to say that this reunion — and Iggy Pop for that matter — won’t be ending anytime soon.
