Julian Casablancas plots writing new theme for The New York Mets

Regardless of what you thought of their performance, The Strokes‘ headlining gig at Lollapalooza set them on a wave of momentum to continue on the path to rock and roll resurrection. And just how will Julian Casablancas and company utilize said momentum? With a Julian Casablancas solo project, of course. Well, that explains the new album’s delay.

According to Gigwise.com, Casablancas’ next project won’t take him to yet another alternate dimension; instead, the NYC crooner has dreams of heading to Citi Field. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Casablancas said he wants his next project to be writing a theme for the New York Mets. And in case you think it’s a joke or some kind of diversion, Casablancas added, “I’m totally serious – I have some ideas, I have to see if they like it.” Let’s hope they do.

As always, stay tuned for more news on Casablancas’ dreams of glory and any other Strokes news. And in case you’re wondering what it’s like when a band writes a theme for a sports team, enjoy The Misfits’ ode to the New York Rangers in “I Wanna Be A New York Ranger” below.
