If there’s one rapper featured almost as much on CoS as Kanye West, it’s Lil Wayne. And, in our own defense, you can’t blame us. Since going to prison earlier this year, he’s dropped several new songs and verses, been the inspiration for a mash-up album, and is going to drop a new EP this September (with the first single out already). And to think he’s just getting started.
According to an interview between MTV News with Young Money label head Jermaine Mack Maine Preyan (via Entertainment Weekly), Wayne will release his next studio album, Tha Carter IV, the day he is released from prison on November 5th. How so, you ask?
The New Orleans recorded a ton of material before becoming a guest at Rikers Island, and while the YM folks are already gearing up for the release I’m Not a Human Being EP, Wayne is also said to picking out Tha Carter IV‘s tracklist, with listening sessions held over the phone.
Tha Carter IV plans we had and still have are to put Tha Carter IV out the day he comes out, Maine told MTV. He had so many songs for Tha Carter IV, we said lets just put these 10 songs out [for I Am Not a Human Being] and double back for Tha Carter IV. He has more songs for Tha Carter IV that are still strong.
Maine would not elaborate on which songs would be included on Tha Carter IV, but he did note that six songs are already confirmed to be on the tracklist. What’s more, the yet-to-be-announced first single is expected to arrive in October.
As if stealth album releases weren’t mind-blowing enough, Maine also spoke about plans of a potential homecoming concert at Madison Square Garden.
Im Not a Human Being is available for download September 27th. Tha Carter IV hits stores November 5th. All that’s tentatively, of course. We’ll of course more details as they become available.
