Mogwai announces LP for 2011

There has been plenty of Mogwai to go around recently, thanks to the post-rock band’s first live film Burning, as well as its first live album Special Moves, and it won’t be long before we get to hear more from Mogwai. According to NME, the band’s seventh full-length album and followup to 2008’s The Hawk is Howling has a release date: February 2011.

It’s untitled, but guitarist Stuart Braithwaite had some words for Spinner UK about the “interesting” album: “Quite often, when we go into the studio our songs are nearly written,” he said. “There’s almost a tone of a song, but as the whole band, you haven’t realized where it’s going.”

For the new LP, Mogwai reunites with drummer/producer Paul Savage of The Delgados, who produced Mogwai Young Team, the band’s now classic 1997 debut. This, of course, can only be good news.

While February is a while away, Special Moves comes out August 23rd and the DVD for Burning is out now. Mogwai also tours behind the album in the U.K. in February; see the itinerary below.
