New T.I. album delayed thanks to burgeoning acting career

Look, we give props to T.I. for focusing on his craft. All those movement intensives and Meisner repetition exercises are sure to pay off with his role in the upcoming film Takers. But do you really have to push back your album back? Come on. Be the exception that proves the rule, Tip.

HipHopDX reports (via an interview with Rap-Up.com) that T.I. will be delaying his forthcoming album King Uncaged even further. We previously reported that the album and movie’s release would coincide, but as T.I. explains in the interview, “I feel it wouldn’t be fair to the film or the album if I was splitting my attention span amongst the two, so I hit pause on the album to completely focus my attention to rolling out this here film.” The album was planned for release September 28th and a new date has not yet been set.

King Uncaged then will ride the hype machine a little longer just like every hip-hop release. He’s fresh out the clink, it’s featuring Kanye, and its first leak was a strong indication that this album’s going to be pretty good. Speaking of its first leak, T.I. and fiancée Keri Hilson dished out “Got Your Back” on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night. You can watch the video below (via Culture Bully).

As for the movie he choosing to pour his time and money into?

Takers stars T.I., Hayden Christensen, Paul Walker, and the lovely Chris Brown. But hopefully Matt Dillon and Idris Elba (Stringer Bell) will balance it out.

The film hits theaters August 27h, while King Uncaged will hit shelves later, later this fall.
