The Besnard Lakes have had a pretty good year. They’ve released a critically acclaimed third album, The Besnard Lakes Are The Roaring Night, described by our very own Drew Litowitz as an “infectious blend of grandiosity” and “another triumph.” The album has also been shortlisted for the coveted Polaris Music Prize, with the winner due to be announced September 20th, the second such nomination for the band. Along with that, the band has been touring almost constantly since the album’s March release, playing dates all over Europe and North America.
Now, to cap it all off, the Montreal-based band, led by husband and wife team Jace Lasek and Olga Goreas, has announced a fall tour. Spanning over a month, the roadtrip will see The Beasnard Lakes team up with a variety of acts, ranging from Canadian products Land of Talk and Wintersleep to high-profile outfits Jenny and Jonny and Band of Horses.
The band will begin their travels with a series of west coast dates, starting on October 1st in Denver. A week later, they’ll join up with Band of Horses for seven dates swing, which includes stops in Chicago, Toronto, and Detroit. Then, with barely a pause, it’s off to London, Ontario on October 23rd for the opening night of an eight-date tour with fellow Canadian band and former Polaris Music Prize nominees Wintersleep.
As they come to a conclusion, The Besnard Lake will hope the border for dates in New York and Massachuesstes before finishing up with a hometown gig in Montreal and then a performance in Halifax.
