The Fresh and Onlys detail new album and upcoming tour

Since forming in 2008, San Francisco’s The Fresh & Onlys have quickly outgrown northern California’s lo-fi psychedelic scene, with 2010 proving to be a breakout year for the foursome. Already the band has played ATP through an invitation from Matt Groening, went on the road with King Khan, traveled the UK with Deerhunter, and brought their sound to the east coast with a standout performance at the Woodsist Festival in NY. In fact, F&O even outgrew their lead singer’s home studio, choosing instead to record their latest album in San Francisco’s Louder Studios.

With the help of producer Tim Green (Fucking Champs), Play it Strange was recorded in just over a week and attempts to better capture the depth and power of the band’s live performances. According to bassist Shayde Sartin, the album has been recorded for a couple months, but the group wanted time for proper mastering and a chance to let the album “breathe.”

Play it Strange, the band’s first release on In the Red, will be available October 12th. A full tracklist follows.

After releasing the album in October, F & O will be staying busy opening for Clinic across the US. Beginning November 5th in DC, the band will make its way to the other coast, performing 15 shows in 20 days. While the tour makes stops in Chicago, Boston, Toronto, Seattle, and LA, the band has decided not to make a stop in New York this time around. Check out the complete list of dates below.
