The Octopus Project to get rolling in support of new album

A particularly small number of people have heard The Octopus Project‘s new album, Hexadecagon. The band debuted it in live form at its hometown SXSW festival (which featured two over-capacity shows). If you weren’t one of the lucky few, you’ll have to wait ’till its October 26th release on Peek-A-Boo Records.

It’s the experimental electronica group’s fourth full-length album, and according to a press release, it was “born out of long drives from venue to venue soundtracked by minimalist composers Terry Riley and Steve Reich.” All signs point to this work being trippy as usual.

The Austin quartet will be supporting Hexadecagon on a month-long tour beginning September 29th in Little Rock, AR. The band will play clubs throughout the South the first week and travel north to Washington, D.C., on October 6th. The East Coast leg will include dates in Montreal and Toronto before heading to the Midwest. The tour skips over to Seattle from Minneapolis and covers the major spots down the West Coast at the end of the month. After a date in Tucson, AZ, The Octopus Project will make a detour to Moogfest in Asheville, NC on October 29th.

All shows except Moogfest will have the support of Starfucker (which, after time spent as PYRAMID, is called Starfucker once more). Tickets are available on Ticketmaster.
