With how many bands there are out in the world, it’s extremely easy to overlook a lot of them. But when a band describes their music as “downright Homeric if Homer were a robot Meatloaf from the future,” well, that’s a little bit of an attention grabber. The Protomen have been taking their nerdtastic, rock-opera stylings on tour this year, and if you missed them back in the spring, you’ll be getting another chance to catch them.
The Nashville-based band has announced a new set of tour dates, beginning tonight in Birmingham, Alabama. This summer-to-fall tour will then crisscross the country before wrapping up in Missouri on September 11th. A few performances to note: they’ll be playing their two albums, The Protomen (Act I) and Act II: The Father of Death, back to back on two consecutive nights in Hollywood at the end of August. They’re also set to hit PAX Prime 2010 in Seattle on September 3rd, where we’re sure there’ll be an appreciative audience.
Whether you’re a fan of Mega Man or not (and even if you are, whether you’ve made it through the games or notlooking at you, ridiculously cheap boss fights), if you enjoy some epic rock, be sure to check them out.
