Witnessing a live String Cheese Incident “incident” is truly a mind-opening, communal experience. Attendees devote many pre-show hours to discussing historic sets, the most highly anticipated songs, and the most unexpected covers. This culture has not only been documented in the often drug-addled minds of the most hardcore fans but also in the hours upon hours of live archives that they have been encouraged to record since the inception of the jam scene.
To celebrate their decade-plus-long dominance of this scene, SCI will be launching the new series Rhythm of the Road, which highlights many of the band’s most celebrated concerts with remastered, limited edition releases. Each release will be available on CD or can be downloaded as an MP3, FLAC, or the newly introduced (24 bit / 48KHz audio) FLAC HD.
The series begins November 9th with the release of Rhythm of the Road: Volume 1, Incident in Atlanta – 11.17.00. Coming at a time when the group was making the transition from a bluegrass act to a more rock-influenced live band, this performance has become an important milestone in the band’s growth. Adding to the allure of the night, Tony Furtado joined the guys on banjo for several songs, and the set features covers of Led Zeppelin, Talking Heads, and Peter Gabriel.
