Trey Anastasio to release raucous live Atlanta set

Here’s something to add to your massive Trey Anastasio and Phish collection. The 45-year-old jam band king has announced that he’ll release a live disc – TAB at the TAB – on September 19th. If you don’t already know, the first “TAB” stands for “Trey Anastasio Band” and the second “TAB” refers to the venue – the storied Tabernacle building in Atlanta, Ga.

Even though it’s not a Phish record, the 10-song disc does come from a raucous February 27 show where Anastasio’s other band played over 30 songs (including the Phish classic, “Show of Life”) over the course of two sets and an encore. Among the songs making the final tracklisting are “Wanda”, “Valentine”, and “Drifting” as well as a cover of Led Zepplin’s “Black Dog”, which finds one his background singers belting out the classic tune as the crowd moans along.

The release comes amidst Phish’s final summer tour dates. There’s no word on what the band will be doing next, but there are rumors of a fall leg. Plus, Anastasio has mentioned that he’s been working on new material.

Pre-orders for TAB at the TAB are going on now, and anyone who purchases the album digitally gets two bonus tracks – “”Birdwatcher” and “Cayman Review”. Check out the tracklist below and catch Anastasio leading Phish at one of the stops listed below. Tickets are available via If you don’t feel like leaving your computer, then just check out the performance of a rowdy acoustic version of “Bathtub Gin” from the Tabernacle show.
