Delta Spirits live show might have been underappreciated by some, but even brainwashed MTV addicts can probably get behind the new video for Bushwick Blues from their latest album History From Below. The neatly polished, nearly four-minute clip opens at an empty diner where the videos protagonist listens to a lonely radio before proceeding to empty the contents of the establishments cash register into his pockets. A stand off ensues, and frontman Matt Vasquez basically rocks with the rest of his San Diego-based outfit as police lights flash outside.
Its not really clear what the video has to do with the actual song, but Vasquez does offer some insight on the whole thing. Per Spinner.com:
“Bushwick Blues’ is about a woman I met outside a club in New York called Pianos in 2008. She handed me a demo of her music and I was immediately smitten. A few times when I came back to New York we were able to spend some time together. We played each other songs and shared our life stories. For a long time, it was hard not to compare other women to her. I’ve since recovered.
Check out the clip below. The band just wrapped up their North American tour, but if you so happen to live on the European continent, then go see the band out on one of these upcoming tour dates.
