X Japan has definitely accomplished a lot as a band. Having sold over thirty million records and filled Japan’s 50,000-seat Tokyo Dome 18 times, as well as being a pioneer of the visual kei movement in Japan (think glam-rock, but with a lot more makeup and androgyny), their career has been marked with many a success. One thing that they’ve yet to do, however, is truly bring their performances stateside. Luckily, this is about to change, as a North American tour has been announced for this fall.
It isn’t their first time in North America, granted. The band made their stateside debut on the main stage of Lollapalooza just a little over a week ago. As well, drummer Yoshiki and guitarist Sugizo gave fans a taste of their music at a brief performance at Otakon, a Japanese animation convention that took place at the end of July.
The group’s first performance will be in California on September 25th, with the tour ending in New York on October 10th. If the band achieves even a fraction of the success here that they enjoy in Japan, we’re willing to bet that we’ll see more of them later on.
