Heres some proof that its not just rappers getting in trouble these days: One of country musics rising stars Justin Townes Earle has just postponed over 30 tour dates after checking himself into a rehabilitation facility. His website says he is strongly committed to confronting his ongoing struggle with addiction and thanks his family, friends, and fans for their continued support through this difficult time. The 28-year-old Earle, who is the son of Steve Earle, has openly discussed his substance abuse issues and suffered five major overdoses. The most recent occurred in 2003 and landed him in the hospital for several days.
News of the postponed dates comes just days after the embattled singer/songwriter was arrested following an unruly show at Indianapolis Radio Radio on September 16th. My Old Kentucky Blog reports that Earle cut his set short after exchanging words with hecklers in the crowd, then proceeded to cause $200 worth of damage to his dressing room before allegedly striking Cheyenne Caperton with a closed fist as she attempted to stop Earle from assaulting her father (and owner of Radio Radio) David Clough. Earle denies the accuracy of the accusations and released this statement yesterday:
Unfortunately, reports surfacing online about the incident in Indianapolis are not accurate. I have been advised by counsel that I should not comment on a pending criminal matter, but suffice to say that I am looking forward to having my day in court. I would also like to say that I oppose violence against women in any form.

Whether or not the stories are true, the fact remains a whole slew of dates have been postponed. Information regarding refunds are available from the respective venues, and Earles website will display information regarding if or when the tour dates are rescheduled as soon as it becomes available.
UPDATE: Earle’s website has revealed that the he will resume his nationwide tour at the end of November after he completes “voluntary treatment for addiction issues.” Nearly 20 new tour dates are listed below and his website says rescheduled dates will be announced shortly. Tickets for selected dates are already on sale at Ticketmaster.com.
