By now, you probably know Jimmy Eat World‘s latest effort, Invented, hits streets tomorrow. If you’re a fan, it’s probably even written in your calendar. Though we can’t offer you any exclusives, we can give you something almost as good — you know, like a cover of Wilco‘s “You And I”? It won’t hold you over too long – especially considering you’ve been waiting since you finished 2007’s Chase This Light – but it should stave off those hunger pains for a bit.
The track, taken from 2009’s Wilco (The Album), doesn’t reinvent the wheel much, but it does a pretty good job of recreating the track’s particularly somber feel. Gone is the haggard lean of Jeff Tweedy’s voice, replaced by the pained emo tone of Jim Adkins. And while Feist didn’t tag along this time around, it’s safe to say the cover does the tune justice, highlighting elements of both bands and leaving no room to complain.
Enjoy the track below. Make sure to check out the band on tour this fall. Invented hits stores tomorrow via Interscope Records.
