Diddy, Lil Wayne, and Justin Timberlake act stoned, heartbroken on “Shades”

You know who we don’t write about much? Diddy. The Bad Boy mogul and man formerly known as Puff Daddy may be too busy selling vodka and getting hated on by 50 Cent to make much of an impact with us. Perhaps in a way to remedy that, he’s gone ahead and recruited Lil Wayne and Justin Timberlake for the song “Shades” (via The Fader). Now we’re listening.

Only, we sort of wish we hadn’t. Other than the sizzurp-fueled spoken word of Lil Wayne to a rejected beat from Knight Rider, the whole thing would be better enjoyed if we were drunk and sad. Featuring pathetically weak vocals and a crybaby mentality, plus the line “I’ll even pour a gallon of gasoline on my heart just to light your cigarette”, the song is an experience in the painfully bad and something only to be undertaken by the truly brave. Or incredibly high.

Enjoy the tagless track below. If you actually grow to love it, the track will be available on Diddy’s December release Last Train to Paris. Fitting title; this makes us want to leave the country as well.
