Fashion Alert: Animal Collective shoes coming soon

Deakin is on tour, and Panda Bear is busy procrastinating on a new album, but the boys of Animal Collective apparently aren’t letting the group’s current hiatus stop them from starting work on their own line of footwear. Yeah, you read that right – shoes.

At first glance, the band’s upcoming collaboration with Los Angeles-based Keep Shoes seemingly pairs two kindred souls. The company’s mission statement reads just about as trippy and hippy-ish as anything the band has ever come up with in the studio. “Keep is a shoe company, a clothing company,” it says, adding that they are also “an amalgam of interests, a way of being, a force, a language, a family and many other things.” Okay.

So far the only real information we have about the partnership is this picture with text that says “Keep + Animal Collective” over symbols of a shark and other sea creatures. For anyone still interested, the image is found on a website where you have to surrender an email address to stay in the loop. We’ll leave that to you guys, but here’s to hoping they design some AnCo socks to go with the new kicks.
