Remember those frustrated fans who started an online petition to get Lupe Fiasco‘s long-delayed album Lasers finally released from Atlantic Records? Turns out they’re quite serious; so much so, in fact, that they’re getting off their couches and staging “Fiasco Friday”, a series of protests to be held October 15th outside of Atlantic’s various offices nationwide (via HipHopDX). We’re down if we can be back in time for the newest G.O.O.D. Friday release.
The petition, launched by fan Richard Barker, has garnered some 28,979 signatures since it started circulating on July 21st. The big news is that while Fiasco was already super appreciative of the fans’ efforts, he’s now planning to join one of the protests, writing on Twitter that “well if y’all there…I guess I gotta be there too! Ha! Leggo!”
As for Atlantic’s whole take on this, their last update on the album was a Twitter message on July 24th saying “#Lasers is coming folks!” While we’re not normally ones for social uprising, head here for maps and directions to the various Atlantic offices. Fight the power, yo.
