Thanks to Nick Cave’s old buddy Mick Harvey (formerly of the Bad Seeds and The Birthday Party), we now have confirmation about PJ Harvey‘s (no relation) autoharp-laden new album (via TwentyFourBit).
Said Mick on his MySpace page at the end of August: There will be extensive touring commitments with my dear friend Polly (PJ) after the release of her new album in February 2011. He continued, We recorded her album back in May in Dorset and its a remarkable piece of work – quite unlike anything else out there. Would one expect anything else?
Cave’s loss is PJ Harvey’s — and her fans’ — gain. Also, Harvey worked again with John Parrish for the upcoming LP, so hopefully he’ll be along for the ride too.
Also of PJ Harvey-related interest, as TwentyFourBit reports, is Japandroids’ recently released cover of her song “Shame”. The cover is a B-side to the band’s “Heavenward Grand Prix” 7-inch.
