So you already know that we think The Thermals latest album, Personal Life, is pretty good. But in case you still haven’t plunked down your cash for the trio’s fifth album, their newest single is here to persuade you. While you can listen to it down below, the official release of “Never Listen To Me” is scheduled for October 19th through Kill Rock Stars. It’ll be available as both a 7″ and in digital form, coming with the b-side “There Is Always A Reason.”
The record’s second single, “Never Listen To Me”, follow the theme of personal relationships and their endless contradictions that the whole album explores. While the verses are pretty dark lyrically, the chorus is… actually even darker. But musically, the melody becomes uplifting, creating a nice juxtaposition for a song about contradictions. The song itself is much more focused on rhythm than the Thermals’ usual output of guitar-heavy tracks.
If you already did get Personal Life, don’t worry! There’s still news for you! The Thermals also recently announced a series of West Coast dates to add to their current North American trek. Find all confirmed tour dates below.
