Velvet Revolver comeback closer than previously revealed

Unlike most big-time comebacks, Slash and company aren’t keeping tight lipped about a post-Scott Weiland Velvet Revolver. After bassist Duff McKagan’s public departure from Jane’s Addiction earlier this month, and Slash’s announcement on the 13th that auditions for a new lead-singer would begin this October, the comeback seemed inevitable. Not even McKagan’s Loaded diversion could conceal the gravity of the two coincidences.

And if there was still any doubt, a recent interview with Dave Navarro on LA’s KROQ-FM is clearing it up. During the interview, Navarro contradicted Perry Farrell’s previous statement that McKagan had left to work on his project Loaded, but instead left because “Velvet Revolver, is trying to get their thing back together and they’re auditioning singers”. There is still no word on if or when drummer Matt Sorum and guitarist Dave Kushner will re-join the outfit, but with McKagan and Slash together, new material may find a way of appearing as the search for a frontman unravels. We’ll keep you updated as more information is “leaked”.
