Watch: Weezer & My Chemical Romance perform “My Name Is Jonas”

Gerard Way was born in 1977. That would’ve made him just 17 years old when Weezer’s self-titled 1994 release (commonly referred to as the Blue Album) hit the streets. It’s common knowledge that most teenagers love music, and they also tend to latch on to things they love. Favorite albums, clothes, even ex-girlfriends – we’ve all been there, done that. So just imagine how happy Way – who is the lead singer of pop-punkers, My Chemical Romance – must have been last night when he took the stage with Rivers Cuomo to perform one of the Blue Album’s best tracks.

This video of both Weezer and My Chemical Romance tearing through “My Name Is Jonas” (via RIOB) was filmed in Los Angeles, Calif. at a free show put on as part of Axe Music’s One Night Only campaign. (Yes, Axe as in the deodorant company) The two-and-a-half minute clip shows Way flailing his pink hair enthusiastically as he gets to take part in the most ultimate karaoke ever. Just listen to him yell the lyric “My name is Wakefield/I’ve got a box full of your toys,” if that’s not a picture of a man fulfilling a childhood dream, then I don’t know what is. Hell, he even twirls his mic like a madman at one point.

Besides the deodorant sponsorship, the only thing weird about the video is how calm the crowd seems. Sure, they’re pogo-ing, but I’d be going ape shit. Either way, it’s enough to forgive Cuomo for using crib notes on Leno and definitely has us pumped for that “Blinkerton” tour. Just check out the video below and tell us what you think.

UPDATE: CoS reader Adrian Garro was also at the show and recorded a video from almost the front row.  Check his video out undeneath the original.  From this point of view, things look a little crazier.
