As if to cosmically balance the perpetual delays in the hip-hop world, Weezer, who just released their latest studio album, Hurley, this week, revealed in an interview with the AV Club (via NME) that the band were already plugging away at their next studio album. Thanks, Universe!
The as-yet-untitled album, which would be their fourth album since 2008, is scheduled to hit stores sometime in 2011. If you’re wondering why such a manic pace, frontman Rivers Cuomo said the album-making process is the “greatest joy in the world for me”, further adding that he is “constantly fighting with my manager to reduce the amount of time I have to spend on promotional activities, so I can get back in the studio and work on new music.”
As for a sound we can all expect (please don’t start with “Remember Make Believe…”), Cuomo once again succinctly summarized the feeling he was going for, saying that the album would be “like you’re 16, riding your bicycle to get a Slurpee.” Oh boy.
As always, stay tuned for more album news as it’s announced.
