About two years ago, Black Kids were the hottest prospect of the indie music scene. Big players like the BBC were calling them the band to watch and a generally well-received debut, Partie Traumatic, followed. Since then, we’ve had a couple of EPs and singles to get excited about as well as a pretty extensive touring schedule. Currently, the band are said to be working on a new album and shopping around for a label.
While The Black Kids get busy picking labels to put out the new album, bassist and singer Owen Holmes has taken time out to announce a new guest heavy EP under the moniker Gospel Music. The EP Duettes is due for release on November 29th via Fierce Panda Records and will be available as a 10″ vinyl or digital download.
The five-track EP consists of, unsurprisingly, duets with some pretty special guests. French actress and singer SoKo features on the romantically titled opener “I Miss the Shit Out of You” before further duets with Shirley Simms of Magnetic Fields, Tracyanne Campbell from Scottish indie popsters Camera Obscura, and Darran Hayman formerly of Hefner round out the EP. The closing track is a duet with Vivian Girls frontwoman Cassie Ramone.
While we wait on the release of the EP, check out the video for “Automobile”, featuring the aforementioned Campbell.
