If you found yourself eagerly expecting the four-star effort that the new Greenhornes LP promises to be (since, you know, they named it ****), then get ready to sink your teeth into another slice of modern blues-rock. Via TwentyFourBit, you can decide for yourself the album’s quality with the song “Better Off Without It”.
It’d be hard not to describe the band’s sound as “Jack White-esque” (despite the fact that the band has been around since 1999.) Undoubtedly, that’s because of bassist Jack Lawrence’s inclusion in two of White’s music projects. But while The Raconteurs and Dead Weather are all balls to the wall, “Better Off Without It” demonstrates an air of romance, almost eloquence. All while still being pretty rockin’, of course.
If that’s not enough new Greenhornes for you, the album’s first single, Saying Goodbye, is available now as a 7″ with two B-sides, Song 13 and Stay Together. **** hits stores November 9th via Third Man Records.
