If you were worried about your copy of Duffy’s 2008 debut – Rockferry – getting stale sitting on the shelf, then fret no more. The 26-year-old Welsh songstress whose hit single, “Mercy”, resided in your head for weeks on end is back with another track for you to shamelessly sing during your morning shower. Try finding the leaked single from her new album, “Well, Well, Well”.
The track has a little bit of a Salt-n-Pepa vibe and what it lacks in “Mercy”-ish catchiness, it makes up in star power and danceability. The two-hand-a-half minute cut features a rhythm track laid down by none other than The Roots (who have been collaborating with everyone and their mom lately), and is sure to be the secret soundtrack to your lonely Friday nights at home.
Her sophomore album – Endlessly – which follows up the six-and-a-half times platinum Rockferry, is set to hit shelves and digital retailers on November 29th and pairs Duffy – whose real name is Aimée Ann Duffy – with songwriter/producer Albert Hammond Sr. (yes, the guy from The Strokes’ dad), who is most famous for writing the 1972 smash hit, “It Never Rains In California”.
