While we hold our breath for her highly awaited new album, Leslie Feist is giving us a glimpse behind the scenes of her last one, the Grammy-nominated The Reminder. In a documentary set to, according to the press release, “be screening in select cities across North America and Europe,” Feist and her artistic compatriots will give an extensive look at what went into the making of her 2007 hit record and the people who helped it happen.
To quote that press release, “The poetic film, directed by Anthony Seck, pulls back the curtain to reveal intimate partnerships with the people Feist calls her ‘amplifiers’.” The whimsically befitting title of the doc, Look at What the Light Did Now, exemplifies the themes of the film itself. Like light cut and bent into beautiful, unexpected art by shadows and reflection, what happens when something as simple as a few songs gets turned into a record and subsequently “amplified” by all those people involved? From Feist’s perspective, it’s all about who those amps are.

You’ll also find the trailer, in which one of Feist’s collaborators claims a concert shown in the film was “more like an art project.” I think that pretty well sums up everything about this; one massive, fantastical art project that definitely seems like it merits a look.
