For all the fans out there who have spent countless hours playing along with their favorite Phish records, your golden opportunity has arrived. Mike Gordon, Phish’s bassist, is inviting anyone and everyone to “The Mossery,” a free-form musical event to promote his upcoming solo album, Moss. Participants will be given the chance to play along, on the instrument of their choosing, with Gordon on bass. Instruments and mics will be provided, and auditions will be waived. All you need to do is play your heart out and jam with someone who has made a career out of jamming. No pressure.
The event will take place at Kenny’s Castaway in New York City starting at 7pm. A second session will follow at 9:30pm. Moss hits stores the next day, but attendees will have the chance to purchase the album at the event. Find out more information at Gordon’s official site, where you can also watch his tour announcement video, which parodies the most overused plot device of old silent films, the lady-on-the-train-tracks bit.
