Keith Richards to reprise Pirates of the Carribean role in upcoming film

Keith Richards… one of the few things that actually made the third Pirates of the Carribean movie tolerable. Being an enormous PotC fan and having seen the second movie about four times in theaters (yes, the second), I went to the midnight screening of the third movie, and immediately regretted it. However, like I said, it was friggen’ Keith Richards as Jack Sparrow’s dad. With the fourth PotC movie on its way, despite how badly they’re milking the franchise, take a listen if you’re not interested in seeing it at all: NME.com has reported that we’ll be seeing Richards reprising his role.

Considering that Johnny Depp himself has always said that he based Jack Sparrow’s mannerisms after Richards, it was little surprise before that the Rolling Stones guitarist was brought in as the pirate’s father. It’s good news, then, that At World’s End won’t be the only time we see Richards swashbuckling.

The fourth movie, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is currently filming, set to come out in May 2011. If you’re waiting to see Richards in person rather than on the big screen, you’ll have one last chance, as the Rolling Stones previously announced a retirement tour.
