Sure, Andy Dufresne escaped prison with a rock hammer and a Rita Hayworth poster in The Shawshank Redemption, but how’s this for a behind bars feat: Lil Wayne has sold 110,000 copies of his newest album I’m Not a Human Being, thus capturing the No. 2 spot on the Billboard 200 chart. That’s got to make the sting of solitary confinement go down a bit easier.
The album is Weezy’s eighth top 10 album and his second consecutive album, after Rebirth, to hit No. 2. Making this all the more special is that the album is only one of two digitial-only releases to hit the top of the charts (the other being the Hope for Haiti compilation back in January.) With numbers like these, you can only expect big things when the physical album drops October 12th (with three bonus tracks, including “YM Salute”).
And to think, Wayne did this all without the help of Morgan Freeman.
