Having spent much of 2010 putting their old music to film, Scottish post-rock outfit Mogwai are now back to creating some new styles and sounds.
Their latest endeavor, the awesomely titled Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will, was recorded this past summer in Hamiliton, Scotland with producer Paul Savage (the man behind the band 1997 debut, Mogwai Young Team). Among the 10 tracks featured will be “Here To Be A Werewolf”, which the band debuted in concert over the summer (watch video below).
Appropriately, Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will arrives Valentine Day 2011 — February 15th/16th. Rock Action Records will handle distribution in the UK, while new label Sub Pop will do all the legwork in the US. Along with the standard release, there will also be a Limited Edition version of the album, which includes a bonus CD featuring a 26 minute long piece called The Singing Mountain recorded for Douglas Gordon and Olaf Nicolais “Monument for Forgotten Future” installation in Essen, Germany.
Mogwai plan to support the release with extensive touring in 2011. They’ll play the UK and Ireland in January and February, Europe in March, and North America in April and May.
Below, you can find a listing of already announced dates, the album’s tracklist, and the aforementioned video for “Here To Be A Werewolf”.
