Pixies aren’t generally known for being epic, but after 33 Chilean miners were freed from their cavey prison the other week, Black Francis, Kim Deal, Joey Santiago, and David Lovering honored the miners by playing an unprecedented 35 songs at their concert in Chile that very same night. Playing one song for each miner, and two more just for the hell of it, this was the longest set they had ever played in their history as band. Sure, they were 35 Pixies songs which, on average, don’t last much longer than two and a half minutes.
So a free live EP from Pixies isn’t going to run long — 9 minutes and 48 seconds to be exact — but it’s still free and fantastic and yours for the small price of your email address entered in the widget below (via Self-Titled). The EP , which features live performances of “Dancing The Manta Ray”, “Monkey Gone To Heaven”, “Crackity Jones”, and “Gouge Away” is released in celebration of their new site pixiesmusic.com. This release seems strikingly similar to the live EP they released last year around this time, but hey, who cares. Too much Pixies is never a bad thing.
