The first dates for Prince‘s forthcoming “Welcome 2 America” concert series have been unveiled, reports BrooklynVegan. Perhaps adding credence to the idea that this is a New York metropolitan residency as opposed to a full-fledged North American tour, the five announced dates are slated for December and will be split between the IZod Center E. Rutherford, New Jersey and Madison Square Garden.

As previously reported, “Welcome 2 America” will see Prince serve as master of ceremonies, with R&B and funk artists like Janelle Monae, Mint Condition, Esperanza Spalding, and Cassandra Wilson also slated to perform. Tickets for the first batch of dates will go on sale Saturday, October 30th via Ticketmaster. Update: Ticket prices start at $20.10!!!

In other news, The Sun reports Prince has been tapped to headline next year’s Glastonbury Music Festival in Pilton, UK. Other reported headliners include U2 and Coldplay, but an official announcement is still forthcoming.
