Hold back that bloodlust no more: The Smashing Pumpkins‘ addition to that crazy good sounding Vampire Diaries soundtrack is here at last for you to sink your teeth into (via Stereogum). “The Fellowship”, also to be featured on the forthcoming Teargarden by Kaleidyscope Vol. II: The Solstice Bare EP, is pretty fitting for one of those new-fangled teen vampire dramas: it’s vaguely electro, vaguely New Wave, and it’s full of plenty of brooding. The kids could totally emote to this one alone in their rooms.
But if music made for inter-special lovemaking isn’t your thing, fret not. Gigwise reports Corgan dropped another new track in France last week. Literally written days before his performance at a Parisian bookshop, where frontman Billy Corgan was appearing to promote his book Chants Magnétiques, “Jesus Needs A Hit” takes a different approach and finds Corgan back to some of his basics. In fact, it is so somber that it requires Corgan to wear a scarf. Also, it’s fairly catchy.
Billy, we like the tracks, but we’re just not sure if they are “pretty” enough.
Enjoy both tracks below. Original Television Soundtrack: The Vampire Diaries hits stores October 12th via Virgin Records, while the aforementioned Teargarden by Kaleidyscope Vol. II: The Solstice Bare is reportedly due out November 23rd. No word yet on what “Jesus Needs A Hit” will be included on, but we’ll update you as more details become available.
