The Ting Tings write a song for their new perfume

There’s songs written for all sorts of reasons: love, emotional pain, to get drunk to. But if you’re The Ting Tings, you can even find your muse in something as random and slightly humorous as perfume. In a case of super catchy synergy, the band have written the song “We’re Not The Same” for Tommy Hilfiger’s new scent for guys and girls called LOUD. What next, songs about a deaf, dumb, and mute kid who is really good at pinball?

Having never taken a whiff of LOUD, we can’t tell if this track is the sonic equivalent of its odor; we can tell you that this one’s good regardless. With lots of effects and a dash of feedback, this synth-heavy rocker is about as ferocious as the band have ever been. We smell a hit for sure, and if you’re one to agree, get your free copy of the track here.

If you haven’t already, take a listen to the  previously-released track “Hands” (and its subsequent remix by Passion Pit). The band also performed on Later with Jools Holland on October 12th, where they featured the aforementioned “Hands”. It’s a particularly fruitful performance that deserves a view or two.

As if we couldn’t pile more nuggets into this one, in upcoming album news, the band confirmed on their Facebook recently that their sophomore LP wouldn’t be called Kunst and that it’d be out in early 2011. More news as it’s announced, as always.
