There’s something about the ocean that is dark and mysterious. So much so that men like Jacques Cousteau devoted their entire lives on discovering its secrets. If there’s one explorer (of romantic pop songs, not sea urchins) that knows the appeal of the deep blue sea, it’s Brandon Flowers. Case in point, in the newly offered video for “Only The Young”, the second single off Flamingo, Flowers takes us on a dive through the craziest ocean since the formation of the Atlantic.
At the surface, the slow start to the song is mirrored by the whimsical movements of ballet dancers that, like our friends at Some Kind of Awesome noted, do resemble jellyfish. From that peaceful, almost ethereal plane comes the onslaught of Cirque Du Soleil Le Reve dancing and acrobatics as Flowers is blasted by a tempest, nay, a typhoon of water that clearly represents some deep emotional occurrence. That’s right, that minor in English lit is finally paying off for once.
Enjoy the clip below. And if you’re truly lucky, you may just get a a taste of the waterworks during the remainder of Flowers’ tour schedule.
