Watch: Lady Gaga, RZA, join Yoko Ono’s We Are Plastic Ono Band in L.A.

Even though she pissed off Beatle Nation by sitting behind John Lennon’s famous white Steinway, Lady Gaga still sounds the best when she’s behind the keys.  Just watch this video of her performing “It’s Been Very Hard” from Yoko Ono’s 1992 album –  Onobox – at this weekend’s Plastic Ono Band concerts at Los Angeles’ Orpheum Theatre (via Prefix Mag). She looks completely legit despite the cosmic hippie outfit and it’s safe to say that her take on the cut brought the house down. Sean Lennon can’t help but bob and sway as he provides the track’s low end and, for a while, all Yoko can do is watch in awe. They do end up withering on top of the piano together at the 7:45-minute mark, though.

The shows took place as a part of weeks worth of celebrations in honor of what would’ve been John Lennon’s 70th birthday on October 9th. Lennon, who co-founded The Beatles, was gunned down outside of his New York City apartment by a crazed fan on December 8, 1980 and his ashes were spread in Central Park.

Also joining the party were Iggy Pop, members of Sonic Youth, Tune-Yards, actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Wu-Tang Clan’s own RZA, who dueted with Yoko Ono on one of her more avant-garde tracks, “Greenfield Morning I Pushed an Empty Baby Carriage All Over the City”. Watching good ‘ol Bobby Digital get down while Yoko Ono pseudo-chants into the mic is actually pretty freakin’ cool and definitely tops the star-studded, gag-inducing version of “Give Peace A Chance” that finds Gaga (who also killed it on a version of Ono’s “The Sun Is Down”) adapting the song’s lyrics to fit her current stance on the possible repeal of the U.S. military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy.
