When we look back at this year, which should begin happening any minute, Blonde Redhead may be one of the biggest surprises. Their release, Penny Sparkle, seemed to slip under the radar, as if fans had taken them for granted after fifteen years of consistently revered music. But you don’t have a long and successful career by accident, and Blonde Redhead are both touring the hell out of their eighth full-length and offering some extras, like this 4AD session we are proud to premiere.
“Will There Be Stars” sees the trio filled out (one member may or may not be The Office‘s John Krasinski) and performing the enjoyably calming tune with pretty remarkable lighting and picture. They are the fifth (sixth if you count the video-less Deerhunter) in the series that has also featured Tune-Yards and Ariel Pink’s Haunted Grafitti, quickly becoming a nice little video series that is only limited by the amount of artists on the label that houses wall-to-wall talent.
Check out more songs from the session at 4AD Sessions. Below, you can view the aforementioned video, as well as a full stream of Penny Sparkle.
