Elly Jackson’s debut LP is littered with 12 of the most danceable, radio-ready pop songs to have ever come through your headphones. Chromeo plays the kind of music that lends itself to watching yourself dance in the mirror. Therefore, it only makes sense that the UK-based Jackson (who fronts electro-pop sensation La Roux) would hook up with the Canadian elctro-funk crooners to remix the lead track from the their latest album – Business Casual.
Gigwise reports that a La Roux-featuring video will accompany the reworked version of “Hot Mess” when it drops on January 17th, and we can only imagine how catchy it’ll actually end up being. The original is already a fist-pumping, pulsating conglomeration of programmed drum loops, funky organ swells, and 80’s keytar lines, but factor in Jackson’s penchant for crafting instantly memorable vocal lines and you’ve probably got the perfect song to get drunk to while chaperoning your youngest child’s skating rink birthday party.
It’s all pretty exciting, and despite having worked with Kanye West and Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig, both La Roux and Chromeo have been sending Twitter messages saying just how stoked they actually were about the track.
