Cornershop cancels U.S. tour, readies EP for November

They say that when God closes a door, he opens up a window (and adds a pretty penny or two to his heating bill! Thanks! I’ll be here all week!) In the case of Cornershop (the band you may only know from an old-new M.I.A song), that door is a canceled U.S. tour, while the window is an EP set for release this November.

In a press release, the band announced that their upcoming tour was being canceled so they could work on a new album and other commitments. They did, however, promise that the U.S. excursion would be rescheduled for 2011. In all, just nine dates were canceled, so it could have been worse (like a 40 date trek across America being snuffed out.)

Said EP is The Battle of New Orleans EP (wait a second, they’re British!) The four-track release features all unreleased material, including a remix of “Soul School” from the group’s current album, Judy Sucks a Lemon For Breakfast. You can now download the remix, “Soul School – School Dinners”, at their official website, or, don’t go anywhere and watch the video for “Houston Hash” below. Your call.

As always, stay tuned for more news and updates as they’re announced. The Battle of New Orleans EP hits stores November 2nd via the band’s Ample Play label.
