The legend returns as Dropkick Murphys reveal their 2011 St. Patrick’s Day tour dates. With 17 dates on the schedule, including a headlining spot at Washington D.C.’s ShamrockFest and a gig at a Milwaukee Admirals hockey game, the band will trek across a fair smattering of American cities. For the non-festival or game dates, Against Me! (who recently canceled a huge chunk of 2010 dates) will provide “main support,” which could imply that other acts may appear on the bill.
Of course, the Celtic punk rockers gave first dibs to their hometown Boston crowd, and tickets for their show at the House of Blues on March 17th have already sold out. Oh, and so have the ones for their gig a day later. Dropkick is kind of a big deal here in Beantown. Check out their recent Live on Lansdowne, recorded over six Bostonian nights during St. Patrick’s Day weekend ’09, for proof. Have no fear if you missed out on tix, though, because they’ve added two other hometown dates: March 16th at the HoB and the 19th at the Tsongas Arena in Lowell. Other stops include another House of Blues in Cleveland and two different Fillmores: one in Detroit and the other in Denver.
