While this year started out well for the Dum Dum Girls, things took a turn for the worse when they were forced to cancel their fall tour due to a family emergency. But where a door closes in 2010, a window opens for 2011. Specifically, the band will release a new EP in March and tour behind it in the late winter/early spring.
The colorfully titled He Gets Me High will be released on March 1st on CD, 12″, and a digital edition via Sub Pop. It was produced by the three-pronged team of frontwoman Dee Dee, Richard Gottehrer (Blondie, the Go-Gos), and The Raveonettes’ Sune Rose Wagner. The EP will contain three new songs and a cover of the Smiths’ “There Is a Light That Never Goes Out”.
As for the tour, it’ll start off in mid-February in San Francisco, and then head east from there. The last scheduled date (so far) is in Orlando, FL on March 12th. And while nearly all tour dates for the Dum Dum Girls were canceled in 2010, they still have one show scheduled for December 21st in Los Angeles.
