It’s hard to use the words “release” and “Detox” in the same sentence, but with two songs having leaked this week, it finally appears Dr. Dre‘s long-awaited third LP will soon see light. In fact, according a press release issued by Def Jam today, the followup to 1999’s 2001 sports a February 2011 release date. But what’s more intriguing (because let’s be honest, who seriously believes it’ll be out in February?), is the revelation that the effort will feature contributions from not only Eminem and Akon, but also My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy contributor and La Roux mastermind, Elly Jackson. What’s more, despite Dre’s previous comments that his collaborative track with Jay-Z, “Under Pressure”, won’t be included on Detox, Sir Hova is still set to appear in some form.
Already the album’s street single, “Kush”, is available on iTunes, so perhaps Dre is seriously serious this time around. One way or another, we’ll keep you updated.
